This is a great way to advocate for our profession and learn all about legislation! We will start the day early at 8:30 AM with briefings and schedules so we all know what issues are up and when, and then review what to expect for the day. Not to worry, for those of us that are new to “Hill” visits, we’ll include an overview of “how to lobby your legislator” during the morning briefing along with some “do’s and don’ts”. We also strongly encourage people to make appointments to meet with their individual legislators while in Salem. Even if it is just to discuss OSHA’s mission generally, it is very helpful to remind them of who we are and why we’re here. Appointments are usually limited to 15 minutes so it’s a small commitment of time from the day.
