Abstract:
Social isolation is a common experience shared by individuals and families living with aphasia. Self-help support groups create opportunities and experiences for these families to define their new way of being normal within the context of a safe and supportive environment. This presentation will discuss how to identify signs of social isolation and how to start or facilitate self-help support groups.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify signs of isolation
- Describe characteristics of self-help and support groups
- List steps needed to start or facilitate self-help support groups.
