On January 1, 2007, ASHA implemented the new Standards for the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Audiology. The Council for Clinical Certification is offering all those whose CCC has lapsed due to non-payment of annual fees or personal resignation the opportunity to reinstate under the old, 1993 standards.
Anyone who falls in the above category and has not recently received an invitation to reinstate through the mail may call the Action Center at 1-800-498-2071.
This offer will expire on December 21, 2007. After that date, the policy is as follows:
- If lapsed less than 5 years – submit a reinstatement application form, the fee, and evidence of professional development hours based on the number of years lapsed.
- If lapsed more than 5 years – submit a new application for certification with the appropriate fee, obtain a passing score on the Praxis series examination with 5 years of application for reinstatement, complete a modified Clinical Fellowship (12 weeks duration), and accumulate 30 contact hours of professional development for the 3 years prior to the application for reinstatement.
Information on the 2007 Standards for the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology can be found on the ASHA Web site at http://www.asha.org/about/membership-certification/certification/aud_standards_new.htm.
We encourage all those who are providing services to take advantage of this offer.

There will be a presentation from the Northwest Clinic for Voice & Swallowing. Carol Stoel-Gammon from the University of Washington will offer a presentation on articulation/phonology.
We have improved on the vendor program for our fall conference:

- A layout of the booth locations and electrical outlets will be forwarded vendors upon registration for the conference.
- Exhibits will be in one area, located near the breaks and continental breakfast.
- Attendees will have punch cards in their registration packets. Attendees who have their punch card signed by all venders will be eligible for special door prizes during the Friday evening reception.
- Email updates will be sent to vendors advising of any changes.
We encourage vendors to participate in our door prizes by bringing items to donate.
We will send you lodging information, table diagrams and setting up instructions with your confirmation packet. So please register soon, space is limited. For any questions please call

Funded by the Office of Multicultural Affairs of the
American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
We invite you to visit our Web site, www.clinicaldecision.umn.edu to explore a new,
interactive resource for speech language pathologists who
serve linguistically diverse school aged learners. The
project goal is to deliver free, on-demand professional
information for SLPs during the 2006-07 school year,
including:
1. A self-study curriculum of information essential to
clinical assessments and intervention with linguistically
diverse learners
2. Links to other related resources
3. "Ask a Colleague" link to a mentored web-based threaded
discussion forum
4. Four online lectures in advanced topics (e.g., hearing
loss, cleft palate, autism, fluency), as they relate to
linguistically diverse learners (beginning November, 2006)
We hope you will visit our site and share tis resource with
your colleagues. If you have current ASHA CCCs and a minimum
of three years of experience working with linguistically
diverse populations, we also invite you to consider serving
as a volunteer Guest mentor for our "Ask a Colleague"
discussion forum (see Guest Mentor link on the web site). We
welcome your comments and suggestions; please email us at
cdmldl@umn.edu.
Thank you.
